This project aims to address the mental health issue of depression in Vietnam. Our team has implemented several projects in partnership with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA). The current project aims to develop a mobile app that will support individuals with depression and reduce the mental health burden in the population. dMom: Digital Health Interventions to Improve MNCH among Indigenous (Ethnic Minority) women in Northern Vietnam
Ethnic minority women (EMW – recognized internationally as Indigenous) in remote areas of Vietnam face severe inequities in maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH). This project began in 2013 with mMOM, designed to introduce an SMS text messaging system for EMW to connect better with caregivers. The second project now in development will provide a smartphone app designed to improve their access to information about pregnancy and childbirth services. Both projects were funded by the Canadian International Development Reseach Centre (IDRC)
